I have a specific way of working with clients who have experienced trauma and come to counselling with complex needs. This includes a six-step plan.
STEP ONE
You have the opportunity to tell me as much (or as little) as you feel comfortable with about your current situation. I answer any questions, and we discuss any concerns you might have.
STEP TWO
Regular sessions allow us to get to know each other better. The aim is to build a safe, therapeutic relationship through exploring and discussing what has brought you to therapy. We can talk about the past, your experiences, relationships, and what is happening for you now.
STEP THREE
I support you with managing any difficult thoughts and feelings you may be having, and with processing experiences that might be impacting your life in different ways.
STEP FOUR
We find ways to build new ideas around old beliefs, and nurture a positive sense of self-worth.
STEP FIVE
I support you with forming any new hopes and plans you may have for the future
STEP SIX
We find ways to help sustain any changes you want to incorporate into your life.

Alternatively, a focus session can be based on a specific parenting topic that you would like support with.

I can provide clients with a focus session on domestic abuse awareness. This includes the impact domestic abuse has on mental health, family and friends, and support with developing healthy relationships.

When I was training, finding the right personal counsellor was a game-changer. It contributed hugely to my self-awareness, development, and confidence as a new counsellor.
I can offer a reduced rate of £35 per session for one current counselling student (online only).

Originally from the Midlands, I currently live in Wiltshire with my partner, our dog and four cats. I have two children who are now adults and have left home. I have a chronic health condition (fibromyalgia).
My career has mainly involved supporting children, young people and their families trying to manage the many and varied challenges that we all face in life. Much of that work involved listening and providing a safe space for people to explore their thoughts, behaviours and emotions. This led to my interest in counselling.
I now provide online therapeutic counselling sessions for anyone wanting to talk about and explore their concerns and difficulties. I offer counselling for clients who may be experiencing distress, low self-esteem; anxiety; and depression. I provide support for clients who are experiencing identity issues; are neurodivergent; or have a chronic illness, as well as clients facing problems relating to work, home, family and relationships. I can also support anyone wanting to work on areas of self-awareness and personal development.
Working as an integrative counsellor means that I can give you opportunities to work in a way that feels right for you. That may include, for example, focusing on situations, thoughts and feelings in the present; looking at experiences and memories from the past; exploring relationships, behaviours and habits; or thinking about identity, roles and your own personal sense of self. It may also involve thinking about what you want from the future.
I can offer you support, openness, and acceptance, and will collaborate with you in creating an environment that feels safe to explore your experiences at your own pace.
I welcome individuality and diversity,
am neurodivergent-affirmative, and an LGBTQ+ ally.
Now is a great time to think about mental health and find out how counselling can support you.
My work is informed by counselling training, psychological learning and research, lived experience, and a commitment to professional and personal development.
I believe that counselling can transform lives - helping us to manage difficult emotions, negotiate challenging life experiences, and explore unwanted thoughts and behaviours. Counselling can open our eyes to new possibilities, boost our confidence, resilience and self-esteem, and improve our mental health and physical wellbeing. With the right therapeutic relationship counselling has the capacity to be life-changing.
